Maestro Ilija Ampevski, nicknamed ‘’Ampe’’ by the colleagues.
Born 24 March 1974 in Skopje, Macedonia by mother Marika and father Blagoja from whom he inherits the genes for music, actually Blagoja used to play accordion and guitar but had a big desire to play clarinet. When we talk about the family music background, we also need to mention his grandmother Ermofila, Marika`s mother, Armenian by descent and his grandfather Kosta from Enije-Vardarsko . As a result of this mixture of genes, Ilija at the age of 15 has already started performing at family events, engagement parties, weddings, banquets. He receives his first professional offer from the music GROUP Kalabalak, after which he performs at,, The Folk Hit of The Year’’ invited by the famous Macedonian diva,, Blaga Petreska’’,where he is substituting the legendary musician Ferus Mustafov, after which performance he receive the most important offer in his life, the offer to become a member of the legendary group:’’ Makedonski Merak’’, in which bend he has the honor to play alongside the legendary Macedonian artist on accordion , Mr. Milan Zavkov.
When we speak about the influence on his work as an artist, we could say that it is multisided. It is a matter of a genius talent sublimed with musical education since young age, professional engagements with famous names from the Balkan Music stage, and above all a lot of effort and practice with his ’’ Clara’’ and ,, Saksa’’ as he has named the clarinet and the saxophone. Â
He finishes Primar and Secondary Music School at the class of professors for clarinet Manol Janev and Stojan Dimov at: MBSC’’ Ilija Nikolovski-Luj’’ and the music School of Stip at the class of professor Rade Stojchev. He has the habit of saying that he used to learn from the biggest names in music, such as Tale Ognenovski, Medo Chun, Stevan Hristovski, Stojan Trajkovski, Ivan Papazov and a lot of other musical virtuosos. Â
As a distinctive period of his life, he distinguishes the musical engagement with the group’’ Makedonski Merak’’, which is the best part of his life in his opinion, as well as a box full of memories that will be engraved into his memory until the end of his life. A career of 35 years, generally divided into, his life in Macedonia, and his departure to Canada after which his life is full of performances with jazz bends from America, all followed by a huge change into his life in 2005. A change that takes place in 2005, during his tour in Australia. An event that could have been fatal for his own life, and an event that fundamentally changes his entire life. He dedicates him self to a spiritual life, and a life dedicated to God., to whom he is extremely thankful for every new day and very new breath of air.
He profoundly believes that his talent to entertain the people and to paly instruments is given to him by God, and that only because of God he has achieved all the heights in his personal and professional life. This moment is an exact moment for inspiration of his albums with spiritual music dedicated to our Creator- God.  Â
We ought to mention his collaborations with the biggest music stars from the Macedonian Music Scene, stars as: Vaska Ilieva, Aleksandar Sarievski, Blagica Pavlovska, Vojo and Biljan Stojanovski, Jasmina Gunjova, Jordan Mitev and many others.Â
At the beginning of 2023, after many years of musical activity, he discovers 2 tones on the clarinet, Ilija beside that he is a musical virtuoso is also a musical innovator. We must also accent the fact that he is the only Macedonian musician who ahs won the honorary permanent residency visa in Australia by the Australian Government as a distinguished and genuine talent.Â
In the last few years, he lives in Australia along with his wife Emilija and their children Stefan and Ana.
He performs with the Macedonian bend ‘’Despina’’ but also with many Australian musicians amongst which we would emphasize his last performance in the Sydney Opera House, and the excitement for the next one that he expects to happen in this prestige musical house in November 2024. Â
