About Sasha Manda Cvetkovic

From an early age I loved listening to music, mostly folk music of Serbia, Macedonia, Bulgaria and Romania. I often sang until I was 10, when I became interested in the accordion and started playing.

I was taught to play the accordion and music in general by: Zika Mitic, Jakov Mitic, Nesa Stefanovic Senta, Jovica Djordjevic, Goran Mihailovic and Goran Mladenovic Taska. Playing in the Branislav NuÅ”ić Cultural and Artistic Society in Vadičin Han, with whom I visited the entire Balkans, met many colleagues from that area with whom I exchanged experiences, had a great influence on me as a young musician and on my progress.

I made the most significant progress in the period from 1995 to 2005, when I participated in various accordion competitions throughout Serbia, where I had contacts with many great accordion artists, accordion professors, as well as their students with whom I competed and hung out. Several times I won second place in the senior category at the “First Accordion of Yugoslavia” competition, and “First Accordion of Serbia”.

The founding of the Manda Band Orchestra in 1991, in which I still play today, had a particularly great influence on my musical interests, the breadth of my repertoire and my experience. As a member of that orchestra I had the opportunity to achieve a very successful collaboration with many famous and renowned artists ofĀ  which I would like to single out: Lepa Lukić, StaniÅ”a StoÅ”ić, RadiÅ”a UroÅ”ević, Marinko Rokvić, Merima Njegomir, Dragan Kojić Keba, Mitar Mirić, Rade Krstić, Novica Negovanović, Aleksandra Bursać, Milan Dimčić Dimča, Jelena Kostov, Dragi Domić, Stefan PetruÅ”ić, Jelena Marković, Dragan DragaÅ”, Goran Jeknić …

I have been a member of the expert jury for many years at the pre-competition held in Leskovac: “The first accordion of Sokobanja”.
