About Peco Peter Markovski

Peco Peter Markovski is a distinguished Australian drummer, educator, and performer, best known as the founder and head teacher of Peter’s Private Drum Lessons—Australia’s largest and most advanced drumming school. Based in Sydney, Peco offers expert one-on-one lessons to students of all ages and skill levels, covering all drumming styles from rock and jazz to funk, metal, and traditional folk rhythms.

A seasoned performer, Peco has graced major stages since the age of 13, establishing himself early as a prodigious musical talent. In 1998, he was selected to perform at the prestigious Sydney Opera House after placing in the top 10 HSC music students in New South Wales—an achievement that marked the beginning of a vibrant career in music.

Over the years, Peco has performed with many of the most popular vocalists from the Balkan region, showcasing his versatility and deep cultural connection to traditional and contemporary Balkan music. His dynamic stage presence and mastery of both drum kit and folk percussion have made him a sought-after performer across Australia and internationally.

Peco is also a Professional folk percussionist, specializing in the Tapan—a traditional Macedonian drum. He is the founder of TheFolkRoom.com, an online school dedicated to the global preservation and education of folk drumming traditions. His passion for Balkan rhythms and cultural music has earned him recognition within the folk music scene, where he regularly performs with the renowned Despina Band at weddings, festivals, and community events.
